Skwovet has proven to be one of the most popular gen-eight Pokemon, and it’s back once again in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Here’s how to catch the Pokemon and its evolution, Greedent.
Pokemon players are likely very familiar with the bulky Normal-type archetype. While Snorlax isn’t available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players can get a similar Pokemon by catching themselves a Greedent. The Pokemon has been in the spotlight since being added to Pokemon Unite, and it doesn’t seem like that will be changed anytime soon.
Greedent is a bulky Pokemon, but it’s worth doing a deep dive regarding how to get it and how it fits into the different battle types available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Where to Catch Skwovet in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Skwovet can be found in the area directly south of Mesagoza and on the outskirts of Cortondo. Though there are plenty of Pokemon like Wattrel that can be found across huge swathes of the Paldea region, that’s not really the case with Skwovet.
It’s largely exclusive to some of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s early-game areas and can’t be found elsewhere. Players may encounter it immediately after finding Mesagoza, but it can also be spotted while heading toward players’ probable first gym battle against Katy. Here is its Pokedex habitat page:
How to Evolve Skwovet
Players can evolve Skwovet into Greedent by raising it up to level 24. No evolution stones are needed, and players don’t have to worry about using random features like with Pawmot. Just battle with a Skwovet in the party, and it will eventually evolve.
Alongside this, players can catch themselves a Greedent directly. It has a larger habitat than Skwovet but isn’t available in many spots, primarily residing around Glaseado Mountain:
Is Greedent a Good Pokemon?
Greedent isn’t a particularly powerful Pokemon in any battle format except for Tera Raid battles. It lacks the tools for ranked battles, and its low speed stat makes it frustrating to use in the story. It also fails to bring anything special to ranked singles or doubles battles, as its bulk isn’t that overwhelming, and its moveset isn’t that versatile.
The best place for Greedent is in high-level Tera Raid battles. It has a high enough Attack stat to be threatening and can learn Belly Drum as an egg move. This lets it rapidly boost its firepower, allowing it to land hard hits on raid bosses.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
