Players are given access to the Purah Pad pretty early on in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and they will unlock a variety of special abilities that will help them grab items, fuse weapons, and even Ascend through walls early on. Players can also gain access to a camera similar to the one in Breath of the Wild but to obtain it they'll need to access a side quest that's pretty easy to miss for those that aren't exploring every nook and cranny of the newest release.
The Camera is an important item as it's used in a handful of sidequests and is also required to complete the Hyrule Compendium, which relies on players taking photos of the many enemies sprinkled throughout Breath of the Wild 2's expansive landscape. Those that are looking to get their hands on the Camera application for the Purah Pad in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can use the following guide to help them find it.
Finding The Camera Work In The Depths Quest In Tears Of The Kingdom
Players will not be able to unlock the Camera application until they complete the tutorial area and find themselves back in the Overworld of Hyrule Kingdom. This includes collecting all the abilities present in the Sky Islands area and then diving onto terra firma once more. Once players make it back to Hyrule, they can follow the Main Quest (signified by a gold circle marker) to make it to a place called Lookout Landing. There, they will meet a grown-up version of Purah and her young assistant, Josha, who will welcome Link with open arms and progress the Main Story by giving players the Paraglider. After this happens, Josha will run off to meet with another assistant named Robbie.
Players should immediately follow Josha and wait until she meets up with Robbie. There should be a small exclamation point icon near her that signifies she has a Side Quest. If players interact with her, they will activate a cutscene and receive the Camera Work In The Depths quest. Once players have this quest, they should be sure it's active by going to their Quest Log (Hitting the Minus button on the controller) and activating it. Once active, a gold circular quest marker will show up and lead players out of Lookout Landing and to a large gloom-laden fissure in the ground.
Unlocking The Camera App In Tears Of The Kingdom
Once players have jumped into the Fissure and ascended into the Depths, they will meet another assistant to Robbie who will explain that the researcher has run off into the darkness. Robbie's path is signified by an array of campfires and players will need to follow these fires, navigating the darkness until they eventually make it to the goggled scientist. Along the way, players will spot large tower-like flowers called Lightroots that they can interact with. These towering structures emit a soft green hue and when touched will light up the surrounding area and unlock a fast-travel point (as well as a portion of the Depths map.
Once players reach Robbie, he will instruct them to take a photo of a nearby statue, unlocking the Camera application for use, as well as access to the Hyrule Compendium. Once players have taken a photo of the statue, they can head back to Lookout Landing and show the photo to Josha to complete the quest.
How To Take Photos In Tears Of The Kingdom
Once players have the Camera app, they can use it to take photos of whatever they want or find interesting during their travels. To access the Camera, players simply need to hold L and then use the wheel to select the Camera icon. Once they do this once, they can simply tap L to quickly bring up the Camera (so long as they don't choose another power to put in its place). Once up, players can zoom in and out using the D-Pad and can also see information about items when in the viewfinder. To take a selfie, players can tap X, which will spin the camera around to face Link. When taking a selfie, if players tilt the left thumbstick in various directions, Link will do different poses.
