How to Start Genli's Home Cooking Side Quest in Tears of the Kingdom

To begin the Genli's Home Cooking Side Quest, players will need to visit the Rito Village located at the center of Lake Totori. They should be prepared for the frigid environment around the village which is dangerous and will cause damage if Link does not utilize some type of cold protection such as the easy-to-obtain Archaic Warm Greaves.

There are multiple ways to reach the Rito Village in Tears of the Kingdom. The most efficient paths, once unlocked, include fast traveling to the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower and gliding south, or teleporting to the Gatakis Shrine at the foot of the village if it has been cleared. From the shrine's travel point, the player will notice a small insert in the nearby cliff with a rock seated inside. Checking under this rock will reveal a Korok, and from that spot, Link can use the Ascend ability to quickly reach the bridges of the Rito Village.

Once in the Rito Village, the player needs to locate Genli and her friends, a group of young Rito who believe that their song will bring forth the return of the Legendary Stormwind Ark and save their village from the effects of the Regional Phenomena. The player should travel to coordinates -3600, 1815, 0182, which will lead them to one of the village’s lower ledges. Here, they will find the three Rito children and should listen to their song. After the song, Genli will fly off to the nearby Slippery Falcon shop, located just up the hill, where she can be found poring over a recipe book.

Genli will explain to Link that she wants to make Fish Pie, but the recipe requires Staminoka Bass, a rare type of fish that has become increasingly difficult to obtain. This will start the Genli's Home Cooking Side Quest. To help Genli fulfill her cooking aspirations, Link must venture out and locate a single Staminoka Bass, then bring it back to Genli in the Rito Village.

Where to Find Staminoka Bass for Genli's Home Cooking Side Quest in Tears of the Kingdom

Unfortunately, Link won't find any Staminoka Bass in the ponds on the nearby Rito Village platforms, even after thawing the ice. Instead, he should head to any river throughout Hyrule Field or other non-frozen regions.

A good place to search is a small river northeast of Carok Bridge at coordinates -0958, 0551, 0010, southeast of New Serenne Stable and far west of Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. After dealing with the Octoroks, players should spot a few Staminoka Bass swimming in the thinner stretch of water that leads into the larger Regencia River.

The current is strong, so the player should enter the water ahead of the fish in order to catch them easily. Once the player has obtained a single Staminoka Bass, they can teleport back to the shrine, Ascend to the Rito Village, and speak with Genli in The Slippery Falcon to complete the side quest.

As a reward for completing Genli's Home Cooking, Genli will give Link a Biting Simmering Fruit Dish that increases his cold weather attack for five minutes.
