In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players familiar with towns and locations present in the previous game will have thought to check out Hateno Village, which has a shrine called Zanmik Shrine located right near it. This shrine puts players through a test of electricity and the use of Link's Ultra Hand ability, both of which may not be entirely obvious to players who haven't played Breath of the Wild.

This shrine is located on the surface and, unlike some other surface shrines, is readily apparent to any player flying into Hateno village. Therefore, this should be the first stop before anything is done in the town, as doing the shrine will give a Light of Blessing and an easily used fast travel point to access the village whenever necessary. This makes completing the shrine valuable and should be done immediately.

Where is Zanmik Shrine Located?

The location of Zanmik Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

The village itself and the shrine are located on the map's southeast edge, between East Necluda and Mount Lanayru. Once the town has been located, the shrine is not hard to find. The coordinates for the shrine itself are 3469, -2179, and 0148, and it can be easily reached by gliding down from Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. It can also be reached by traveling southeast from Kakariko Village.

The East Necluda Tower may also be used to reach this shrine, but if none of the listed options are available, traveling down the path that heads southeast from Hyrule Castle will eventually lead to the shrine and village. Regardless of the route chosen, the shrine will be on the edge of the village, slightly elevated above other parts of the town. The glowing green and cyan light makes it difficult to miss, standing out against the primarily white and brown-colored village.

The shrine has the goal right before Link when entering, but it is locked up until a puzzle is completed. To the left of this, there is a large and immobile wheel that cannot be turned using the Ultra Hand. Instead, players should head below the wheel, using the Ultra Hand to place one of several metal square tiles on the two electrical connectors. Then, if the wheel starts spinning and the plate gets electrocuted, it's successful.

A hidden chest in Zanmik Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom

Before continuing with the central puzzle, Tears of the Kingdom players should focus on the large pile of orbs underneath the giant spinning wheel. In this pile is a hidden treasure chest, which can be tricky to pull out. The easiest way to do this is by using Ultra Hand to stick together balls on top of the chest, then use it to move them out of the way, finally able to pull the container out. This grants a Strong Zonaite Longsword, which does ten attack damage and is a one-handed blade with extended reach.

Finally, players can stick a ball to the wheel and let it spin all the way to the top. This will bring the ball to the ramp, which leads to the hole the orb needs to settle in for the Shrine door to open. Players must use the nearby ladder to climb back up, then use Ultra Hand to grab the ball and slide it into the hole. After this, the door to the end of the shrine will open, granting players access to their reward.
