Shrines are a way for the Tears of the Kingdom developers to truly challenge players' knowledge of the game's advanced mechanics and interactions. Tears of the Kingdom introduces not only a suite of new abilities for Link to master and manipulate the world with, but it also introduces Zonai Devices and the ability to make complex machinery.

In Gemimik Shrine, players' skill in a number of aspects of Tears of the Kingdom are put to the test. Gemimik Shrine uses elemental interactions, physics, and the game's unique building mechanics to put a real challenge forward for Link. Perhaps as a reward for players' clever thinking, the solution to Gemimik Shrine is one of the game's most visually impressive – just try not to fall into the burning ring of fire.

Gemimik Shrine Walkthrough – "Turbine Power"

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gemimik Shrine Location

Gemimik Shrine is arguably the most obviously-placed Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom, as players' eyes are often drawn to the strange spiraling shape off the coast of the Akkala Mountains in Hyrule's northeast. Indeed, Gemimik Shrine is located at the very center of this giant coastal spiral.

The coordinates for the Gemimik Shrine are (4513, 2116, 0001).

Watch out for Bokoblins on the path and Octoroks in the sea, or just make a boat and sail between each sand bar to avoid them more efficiently.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gemimik Shrine Turbine Power

After entering Gemimik Shrine, players will see a fan pointed upward to the right, a source of electricity to the left, and a central turbine platform that's currently unpowered. Surrounding the platform are several unlit braziers – Link's objective in Gemimik Shrine is to light these.

First, use Ultrahand to attach the fan to the top of this turbine with the blades pointed up. Then, look to the left of the Shrine to see a large metal slab that Link can interact with. Pick this up, too, and use it to connect the electricity source to the turbine via a current on the ground.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gemimik Shrine Fan Gust Paraglider

If done correctly, this should cause the fan to create a massive upward draft – as long as the fan is attached correctly on top of the turbine, that is. Walk up the ramp on the room's right side and jump into this upward gust, then open the paraglider to fly higher up the room. From the highest point, players can see two platforms: one has a handful of Flame Emitter Zonai Devices, and the Shrine's chest rests on the other.

Glide over to the Flame Emitters and bring at least one to the ground. Turn off the central fan by lifting the metal slab off the current, and attach the Flame Emitter to the top of the fan. Be sure to point the Flame Emitter to the side, as it won't light the torches if it's not parallel to the ground.

If everything looks balanced, re-connect the electric current with the metal slab and watch as a vortex of spiraling flame – a spiral that mirrors the Shrine's location – engulfs the surrounding braziers almost instantly. Don't try to jump into this vortex to gain height; chances are Link will catch on fire. Once all the torches are lit, the way to the end of the Shrine should open.

How To Get The Chest in Gemimik Shrine

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gemimik Shrine Walkthrough Chest

There is one secret chest in Gemimik Shrine, which players should be able to see from the top of the gust created by the fan. It's on the highest platform in the room, and it can only be reached by paragliding to it at the exact apex of Link's gust upward.

After jumping into the gust from the raised platform – and after disconnecting the Flame Emitter, of course – quickly turn the camera around to face the opposite direction.

Wait for Link to reach the absolute highest the gust will lift him, then aim directly for the closest edge of the platform. Inside, players will find a Mighty Zonaite Shield, a shield with a whopping 50 Defense that boosts attached Zonai Devices.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
