In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the player will use a variety of different methods to navigate Hyrule, taking advantage of Link's new skills and technologies to get them where they need to go. Even with these new abilities, the player will still often rely on one of the core mechanics from Breath of the Wild: climbing.

Early on in Tears of the Kingdom, successfully scaling large buildings and cliffs can be a daunting task due to Link’s limited stamina. Stamina can be increased in Tears of the Kingdom, but until Link has a substantial stamina wheel, climbing can be a struggle. To overcome some early hurdles, players can acquire the Climbing Gear, a valuable piece of equipment that will greatly improve the player's climbing abilities. Here’s where you can find the Climbing Gear in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

To find the chest containing the Climbing Gear, the player should head down the ramp into the cave just past the first large waterfall. Once at the bottom, they should jump into the water on their right-hand side, then turn around and face the large waterfall. They should see some purple Brightcaps glowing behind the waterfall, hinting toward a hidden area.

To enter this secret cave, the player should swim through the waterfall and proceed to the large tent containing a chest. Upon opening the chest, the player will obtain the Climbing Gear, which offers 3 points of armor and features the desirable climbing speed buff while equipped.

To exit the cave, the player should head back through the waterfall and up the ramp toward the small island where they started. Finally, the player can use the Ascend ability to reach the ground surface.

Finding Meeshy and Misko’s Treasures in Tears of the Kingdom

Meeshy in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

While traveling on the main road around Lookout Landing, Link may encounter a woman named Meeshy, the fearful adventurer he first encountered in Breath of the Wild. Talk to her, and she will tell the tale of the "most fashionable" Great Bandit, Misko, who has left valuable treasures hidden throughout Hyrule. Meeshy tells the player about these treasures, armor pieces with special effects, and will mark their locations on your map.

The Climbing Gear is one of these treasures, along with the Barbarian Armor and Rubber Armor. The Climbing Gear can be obtained immediately upon arriving at Hyrule’s surface if the player doesn't mind the trek across the plains, and the player does not need to first find or speak with Meeshy to claim these treasures.
