The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a vast amount of new and returning armor sets that allow Link to meet nearly every conceivable challenge the game has to offer. While the game's predecessor, Breath of the Wild, featured many of the same sets on display here, the new sets presented in Tears of the Kingdom show a remarkable understanding of exactly what was needed to drastically improve players' experiences. One of the most frustrating aspects of Breath of the Wild occurred when it would begin to rain in the middle of climbing, causing Link to slip and slide, losing progress faster than he could regain it. Tears of the Kingdom introduces an incredible solution to this problem.

The Froggy Armor is a brand-new set featured in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Each piece of the set provides Link with resistance to slipping, with the full set making him more Sticky Frog than Hylian. Getting this set, however, is a time-consuming affair. This guide will explain everything Link will need to earn his Froggy Armor, and never have to worry about slippery walls again.

How to Get the Froggy Armor in Tears of the Kingdom

TotK-Lucky-Clover-Map

Unlike many of the armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom, the Froggy Armor is tied to a long series of quests that require Link to become a fully-fledged reporter for the Lucky Colver Gazette. Link with travel to twelve of Hyrule's stables, completing a small side-quest at each location. He will be then rewarded with a single piece of Froggy Armor after completing a set number of quests, with the last piece being given at the very end.

To begin this journey into journalism, head to the Lucky Clover Gazette building (-3253, 1763, 0119) in the Tabantha Frontier, near the eastern edge of Lake Totori and Rito Village. Speaking to Traysi will begin the "Potential Princess Sightings" side adventure, which tasks Link with helping Penn, the Rito reporter for the Gazette, investigate reported sightings of Princess Zelda. Link will find Penn at each stable, investigating the sightings. This means Link can visit the stables in any order.

The Froggy Armor will be awarded at these intervals:

  • Complete 4th Story: Froggy Sleeve
  • Complete 9th Story: Froggy Leggings
  • Complete 12th Story: Froggy Hood

New Serenne Stable: The Beast and the Princess

TotK-New-Serenne-Stable-Map

Link will find Penn standing directly in front of the New Serenne Stable (-1346, 0735, 0085), writing in his notebook. Interact with him to get information on the area's quest.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Dondons

Talking to Penn reveals that the princess has reportedly been seen riding a large beast with tusks. To solve this mystery, Link simply needs to head to the Lakeside Stable (1553, -3524, 0061) in the Faron region. Across the water from the stable will be a group of newly discovered animals called Dondons (1554, -3363, 0059).

TotK-Beast-Princess-Title

There will be a young woman named Cima watching over the Dondons, and she'll explain to Link that Princess Zelda discovered the Dondons just before the Upheaval, and the rumors over her riding them originate from then. Penn will fly in not long after this to conclude the mission.

Outskirt Stable: The Beckoning Woman

TotK-Outskirt-Stable-Map

If Link stands at the front of the Outskirt Stable (-1410, 1291, 0032) and looks southeast, he'll spot Penn speaking to a bystander. Approach him to initiate the mission.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Peen-Outskirt

Here, a bystander named Nell was flagged down by a frantic woman begging for help. Another young woman was in trouble, and her identity could not be revealed. Link must head to the nearby three-way intersection and speak with a young lady named Ralera.

TotK-Beckon-Ralera-1

Ralera claims her friend, a woman with blond hair, is in grave danger. Ralera even refers to her friend as 'regal.' Link must head to where the woman's friend is hiding, and though Ralera mentions the need for Link to remain unseen, the mission will not reset if he is spotted. The path is not difficult to follow, with the highest-level enemy being a Black Bokoblin.

Ralera can be found at the mission marker, waiting to give Link the next step in the quest: climbing up a straight-faced cliff in the rain. Luckily there are at least two pieces of fallen sky island debris that Link can use Recall on, elevating him well beyond the needed level.

Ralera will be waiting at the top, near a large piece of debris. Now she says that her friend is across the road on the opposite cliff. This is starting to feel extremely suspicious. Link can use the paraglider to get across, meeting Ralera at the mission marker. Link will now find himself on the Great Plateau.

TotK-Ralera-Yiga

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Ralera tells Link that this has actually been a test, and the next stop on his quest is...his grave. Yes, Ralera was a Yiga Clan member all along. She will shift into a Yiga foot soldier, calling in two friends. Defeat them like any other Yiga encounter.

TotK-Peen-Late(1)

Once done, Penn will swoop in and thank Link for his help. This being the second story he's helped with, Link will be awarded 50 rupees and the Lucky Clover Gazette Fabric.

Snowfield Stable: Zelda's Golden Horse

Totk-Snowfield-Stable-Map

The Snowfield Stable is located in the northwestern section of the map,

Quest Guide:

TotK-Golden-Horse

Upon arrival, Penn can be found just to the right of the front of the stable, speaking to a worker named Harlow. This worker claims that Zelda was boarding a golden horse at the stable, but it escaped. Harlow says one night, the horse started making horrible sounds, and he came out to find Princess Zelda herself taking the horse. However, Zelda seemed cold to Harlow, and the golden horse was so scared of her that it bolted north.

Harlow mentions the massive, three-headed ice dragon being the reason no one has gone looking for the horse, so that is the best place to start. Head north from the stable around these coordinates: -1802, 2869, 0238. Link can choose to take on the beast or try and sneak past.

The Frost Gleeok has a variety of attacks spread over two phases. The first phase finds the Gleeok using its incredibly powerful frost attack to freeze Link. Using something like Zant's helmet here will give him an incredible advantage. In the second phase, the Gleeok heads higher up, requiring Link to use Recall on the ice bombs to reach the sky.

TotK-Golden-Horse-Map

Once Link gets by the Gleeok, by force or by stealth, Zelda's horse can be found traveling with a small pack of wild horses. It's unclear if it is in the same place every time, but in this instance, the horse was found at the following coordinates: -1829, 3401, 0235.

Gerudo Canyon Stable: The Blocked Well

TotK-Gerudo-Stable-Map

The Gerudo Canyon Stable (-2795, -2237, 0029) is the last stop before the Gerudo Desert. Penn can be found just outside the stable, near the well.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Blocked-Well

According to Penn, Zelda closed off the well outside the stable. Head down once the quest begins. Link will see a large breakable wall on one side of the well. Use a rock hammer, or something similar, to destroy it. Prepare for a fight as soon as the wall comes down, as several Lizalfos comes charging forward.

TotK-Froggy-Sleeve

After the Lizalfos are clear, use an elemental attack on the sole Like Like hanging from the wall. Once every enemy is gone, Penn will yell down to Link signaling the missions end. As this is the fourth story we've completed, the first piece of the Froggy Armor is given as a reward. In this case, Link receives the Froggy Sleeve.

Woodland Stable: Serenade to a Great Fairy

TotK-Woodland-Stable-Great-Fairy

The Woodland Stable is found along the southeastern road to the Great Hyrule Forest. Its coordinates are: 1060, 1130, 0022.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Great-Fairy

Here, Link will first encounter a group of traveling musicians. Though they eventually grow, at this time, there are only two of them. This quest simply requires Link to fix their cart, which can easily be done with Ultrahand, then attach a horse to the front using the Harness, which is the first reward that Link will receive from Pony Points.

Once the cart is complete, take the group up to the Great Fairy, which can be found just slightly northwest of the stable, at 0921, 1380, and 0093. Violynne will play music, causing the Great Fairy to finally reveal herself. Link, aside from completing another story for the paper, will now have access to armor upgrades.

Wetland Stable: The Missing Farm Tools

TotK-Wetland-Stable-Map

The Wetland Stable is along the eastern border between Hyrule and the Lanayru Wetlands. Its coordinates are 0873, -0159, 0025.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Izra-Location

According to Penn, there is a report from a man named Izra that Zelda borrowed several of the stable's farm tools and never returned them. After speaking to Izra, who can be found down by the river next to the stable, Link will have to build a raft to get downriver to the Floret Sandbar (0850, -0784, 0009). Just past the raft is a small piece of sky debris that has a Steering Stick, Fan, and Battery sitting right on it. Use those to craft a simple raft.

TotK-Raft-2(1)

Speak to Izra again and let him know that he can ride with Link. Before launching, make sure to cut the rope that holds the raft to the dock. Izra will guide Link directly to the Floret Sandbar, which is not far downriver. Once they arrive, a woman named Magda will begin yelling about not trampling the flowers. The three will have a brief conversation, but the mission is essentially done once they reach the sandbar.

Riverside Stable: Gourmets Gone Missing

TotK-Riverside-Stable-Map

The Riverside Stable is located slightly southeast of the Wetland Stable. It can be found at the following coordinates: 0330, -1086, 0010.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Riverside-Stable-Penn

Penn can be found against a tree northeast of the stable entrance. He will tell Link that a chef has been waiting for his companions, but they did not show up. Speak with the man, whose name is Gotter, in one of the pens behind the stable. The leader of the missing group, Agus, is also a chef. Apparently, these traveling cooks are in possession of a recipe created by Princess Zelda.

Gotter says that the group usually takes the Owlan Bridge, which crosses the river just south of the stable. To find Agus and his group, simply head east across Owlan Bridge until a small group of tents can be seen on a small ridge. Upon approaching, all members of the party will be unresponsive. Link must make Zelda's Meat and Rice Bowl. The recipe must be followed exactly for this to work. It is the meat specifically that is meant to trip Link up. He must use simple, raw meat, rock salt, and Hylian Rice. Only one dish is necessary, but it is better to bring extra ingredients just in case.

Giving the meal to Agus will wake the entire group up, and allow them to move on to Riverside Stable. Link will get his rupee reward and move on to the next stable.

How to Get Hylian Rice:

TotK-Hylian-Rice-Store

Link can get Hylian Rice at several different places in Hyrule. Multiple stores in the Tears of the Kingdom carry it, including Lookout Landing and Hateno Village, which both charge 12 rupees. If Link is interested in getting Hylian Rice for free, there is also a way to literally farm it from grassy regions.

TotK-Farming-Hylian-Rice

The best way to accomplish this is to head into any of the grassy areas around Hateno Village, and, while using a short sword, perform a circular charge attack by holding Y to clear as much grass as possible. It won't happen every time, but it should not take long for the grass to yield a bundle of wild Hylian Rice.

TotK-Hateno-Village-Map

Hateno Village is found on the far-east side of the map, in between Mount Lanayru and East Necluda. It is located at and around 3357, -2163, 0120.

How to Get Rock Salt:

TotK-Ore-deposit

Rock Salt is a mineral that is commonly found by mining Ore Deposits. These deposits are found in great abundance throughout the caves of Hyrule. Along with the caves, the Eldin region in general is famous for its vast supply of minerals. Exploring the outskirts of Goron City is sure to yield results.

TotK-eldin-region-ore-goron-city

Generally speaking there are two types of Ore Deposits: Plain and Rare. The rare deposits have gold veins and are far less likely to yield Rock Salt. Look for plain deposits like those in the image above, which are found at 1570, 3207, 0400 in the northern Eldin region.

TotK-Rock-Salt-Store

Rock Salt can also be purchased from the store in Goron City (1680, 2464, 0385)

How to Get Raw Meat

TotK-Forest-of-Time-Map-1

Raw Meat is a simple ingredient that is found by hunting smaller woodland animals. At the moment, there are no known stores that sell this ingredient. Basket-carrying Bokoblins will sometimes be hauling raw meat, but it is difficult to say for sure when and where.

The best option seems to be hunting the forests of Central Hyrule, like the Forest of Time and the surrounding woods. Link is looking for small beasts like foxes and boars, which both offer basic raw meat.

Dueling Peaks Stable: Princess Zelda Kidnapped!

TotK-Dueling-Peaks-Stable-Map

Dueling Peaks Stable is located in the Necluda region, just east of the peaks themselves. Find it at 1750, -1921, 0010.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Dueling-Peaks-Stable-Penn

Penn is actually located on top of the stable itself this time, and when reached he tells Link that the Yiga clan have kidnapped Princess Zelda, and that the word "twins" is their only clue. This refers to the Dueling Peaks, which Link climb.

If Link already has the Eshos Shrine unlocked, it's a much lighter climb from there. In between the two peaks on the southern side of the divide, Link will find what appears to be a person being held hostage in a cage. This exact location is at 1326, -1941, 0305.

Of course, being that the Yiga clan was involved, this is a setup. Zelda immediately turns into a Yiga foot soldier, bringing two friends along with her. The fight is pretty easy, especially if Link has any Sage with him. Once Link has cleaned up the mess, Penn will swoop in to offer Link his reward.

Highland Stable: An Eerie Voice

TotK-Highland-Stable-Map

Highland Stable is located south of Lake Hylia, at the following coordinates: 0507, -3442, 0047.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Riverside-Stable-Penn-1

After meeting Penn just outside the stable, he informs Link that strange voices have been heard, and the two of them should investigate at night. Link can sit by the nearby cooking pot and wait until then.

When Link returns to Penn, they both head out to the Fural Plain, north of the Highland Stable. Following the voices will lead Link to a well in the middle of the field, found at 0398, -3389, 0050.

Heading down the well will reveal possibly the most amazing mission twist in the history of the franchise. The 'eerie voice' that Penn heard was nothing more than a young lady who enjoyed hearing the sound of her voice in the cavernous space. And, in the least surprising turn of events, Penn completely misheard the lyrics. Finish speaking to the young singer and wait for Penn to call down.

TotK-Highland-Froggy-Leggins

As this is the ninth successful story Link has completed for Traysi, she will reward him with the Froggy Leggings. It does not matter what order Link completes the stories in, the Froggy Leggings will always be rewarded upon completing the ninth story.

Tabantha Bridge Stable: White Goats Gone Missing

TotK-Tabantha-Stable-Map

Tabantha Bridge Stable is located near the Hyrule Ridge and the Tabantha Frontier. It can be found at -2919, 0545, 0169.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Tabantha-Stable-Penn - Copy

Penn explains that a group of white goats have gone missing from the stable. Link must speak with Chork to begin unraveling the mystery.

TotK-Pine-Cone-Trail

Chork reveals that Princess Zelda gave him a recipe to use for his goat food, but he forgot it. He had included whole Hylian Pine Cones in the recipe, and there seems to be a trail of pine cones leading away from the pen.

TotK-White-Goat-Location

Link must follow the trail of Hylian Pines cones a considerable distance to locate the goats. Make sure to look out for the sparkle of items in tall grass. The final location of the goats is -2549, 0413, 0150.

Foothill Stable: For Our Princess!

TotK-Foothill-Stable-Map - Copy

The Foothill Stable is located directly east of the Woodland Stable, on the other side of Eldin Canyon. It can be found at 2604, 1134, 0148.

Quest Guide:

TotK-Foothill-Penn - Copy

Penn is found just up the hill from the stable, talking to his little birds. Penn notices that numerous men at the stable are wearing only their underpants, and that apparently Princess Zelda told them to. He says that several of the men followed the road north from the stable looking for a monster den, and have not returned.

Heading north, Link will find a monster cave very close to the road's end. There will be men standing at the entrance wearing nothing by underpants, so Link's clearly on the right path. The cave is located at 2281, 1513, 0157.

Link will approach this challenge like many of the 'Proving Ground' shrines in Tears of the Kingdom that take away his gear. Sneak into the chamber and grab the large stick standing against a wall. Fuse that with a rock to make sure Link can take care of the armored Bokoblin. After that, the most dangerous enemy is the Black Moblin. It usually grabs a halberd, and can do a lot of damage in a single attack. Use Link's mobility to move around the room and take out the Bokoblins, then take out the Moblin.

Head back to the entrance and then retrieve Link's gear, then return to Foothill Stable.

South Akkala Stable: The All-Clucking Cucco

TotK-South-Akkala-Stable-Map

The South Akkala Stable is located in the southern reaches of the Akkala Highlands. Head to 3164, 1716, 0201.

Quest Guide:

TotK-South-Akkala-Stable-Penn-Tree

Penn, who is located outside the stable in the goat pen, tells Link about a prophecy-telling Cucco. He points out a tree to Link and asks him to head up and find out the truth of what is going on.

TotK-South-Akkala-Cucco

It turns out the Cucco knows a lot. He informs Link that he'll have to face the following trials:

  • Get to the top of the stable in a certain time.
  • Bring three logs back to the Cucco within the time limit.
  • Get fooled into talking to a Cucco.
TotK-South-Akka-Yiga-Trick

Yet again, it turns out that the Cucco is a Yiga member in disguise. Three Yiga foot soldiers show up, and Link must dispose of them to finish the mission.

TotK-Froggy-Hood

With that complete, head back to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette. She will discuss the unfortunate lack of concrete resolution to Zelda's disappearance, but more importantly, she will give Link the Froggy Hood, completing the Froggy Armor set. This is one of Tears of the Kingdom's most useful armor sets, allowing Link to climb wet and over-vertical walls.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
