Many of the rarer armor pieces in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have invaluable perks that can make a player's life much easier. Those seeking to gather every Korok Seed in Hyrule will want to travel to The Depths and get their hands on the Korok Mask as soon as possible.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the Korok Mask can be found in the Forest Coliseum located around -0114, 2433, -0625 in The Depths. Players can quickly reach the coliseum by way of the Ramobnukas Lightroot in the area beneath the Great Hyrule Forest.

If players have not yet visited this Lightroot, they can enter The Depths from the overworld via the Minshi Woods Chasm on the outskirts of the Great Hyrule Forest.

How to Get to the Forest Coliseum

After jumping into the Minshi Woods Chasm, players should head directly northwest toward the Forest Coliseum's coordinates. To help them traverse The Depths more easily, players will come across a workstation for Zonai Devices that they can assemble into a vehicle. If they'd prefer to proceed on foot, there are plenty of trees for players to climb to better glide over the Gloom.

All the Lightroots in this area are close together and can be easily spotted in the distance. If they travel a direct northwestern route, players should find their way to the Korok Grove containing the Rikonasum Lightroot and the roots of the Great Deku Tree.

Players should keep an eye out for the Gloom Spawn that lurks in the grove, as it can be difficult to maneuver around it with all the Gloom covering the ground. After successfully fleeing or disposing of the multi-handed monster, players can continue northeast toward the Ramobnukas Lightroot, located in a more densely wooded area.

Once the Lightroot has been activated and players can see more clearly, they should notice a trail of Mighty Bananas on the ground toward their destination. Following this fruit trail will lead players directly to the entrance of the Forest Coliseum.

How to Beat the Forest Coliseum

As players enter the coliseum, the trail of bananas will end directly on a small platform in the middle of the arena.

When Link picks up these last Mighty Bananas, two Yiga Clan Footsoldiers will close the coliseum gate and reveal that he has fallen into their trap. Following a few seconds of gloating, they will introduce the Black Hinox waiting behind the other door.

In order to claim the Korok Mask for their own, players must take down this Black Hinox challenger. Already a force to be reckoned with normally, this Black Hinox is empowered by Gloom. If fighting it head-on, players should come prepared with Gloom Resistant armor or meals that can restore the Gloom Damage Link receives.

As with any Hinox, players can use arrows to hit its eyes for critical hits and possibly stun the monster for a few seconds. Players needing more assistance with aiming can attach Keese or Aerocuda Eyes to their arrows to create homing arrows that will seek out the Hinox's eye.

While players have their bow drawn by holding down ZR, they can simultaneously hold the Up-button on the Joy-Con-L to bring up the material menu. Players can cycle through the items in their inventory using the Right Control Stick and attach the highlighted material to their arrow by releasing the Up-button.

Alternatively, players have the ability to use Zonai Devices to create any sort of weaponized machinery they can imagine. However, they should be forewarned their contraptions are not invincible, and the Hinox can and will destroy them if it's able to get its hands on them.

When the Black Hinox is defeated, the Forest Coliseum's chest in the back of the Hinox's cell chamber will unlock, allowing players to claim the Korok Mask.

What Does the Korok Mask Do?

Though every Korok leaf differs, the Korok Mask pulls its design from Makar, the brave little Korok from The Wind Waker. In this game, it's just as useful a resource for players as it was in its Breath of the Wild debut.

While its stats are nothing special, the mask will shake with a rattling noise, and its pinwheel will spin with petals when a Korok is in the nearby area. Players can use this feature to better track down the multitude of Koroks hiding across Hyrule.

Unfortunately, like the other special helmets found in-game, the Korok Mask does not offer matching bonuses with other pieces.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
