The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom allows Link to heal himself by cooking special dishes from ingredients found around nature or in shops. Some can be gathered in the wild, but other ingredients, like Fresh Milk, cannot be found in the environment or made by Link himself.

Fresh Milk has a few uses in Tears of the Kingdom. It will only heal half of a heart when drunk by itself, but can be used with cooking other ingredients for a variety of soups and stews. It is also one of the key ingredients to finish the Gloom-Borne Illness side quest. This guide will show players where to find and how to get Fresh Milk.

How to Get Fresh Milk in Tears of the Kingdom

There are at least two sure methods to get Fresh Milk in Tears of the Kingdom. Both can be done in Hateno Village, which is located in the southeastern corner of Hyrule. It is between the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower and the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower, though traveling from the latter would be much easier.

Buying Fresh Milk

The easiest method to obtain Fresh Milk is through buying it at the local store in Hateno Village. The shopkeeper will only have a limited amount at a time, but each bottle of Fresh Milk will cost 12 Rupees. Players just getting to Hateno Village should have enough Rupees that it does not break their wallets.

There are other shops that carry Fresh Milk, but are not as reliable as the Hateno shop. The Traveling Merchant near Kakariko Village carries Fresh Milk, but can be hard to track down. Beedle, the merchant who sets up shop at stables, could also carry Fresh Milk; however, his stock can be random and not exactly reliable.

Dantz's Prize Cows Side Quest

The east side of Hateno Village contains Hateno Pasture, home to Dantz and his dairy farm. Unfortunately, he has not been able to make milk due to the lack of acorns, and tasks Link with finding three regular acorns to make milk.

The forest behind Dantz's farm does contain acorns, so be sure to bring an axe or two to chop down some trees. Shooting squirrels with arrows can also work, but there are not that many around. Return to Dantz with three normal acorns, and he will give Link a bottle of Fresh Milk. Players can continue to trade three acorns for one bottle indefinitely after the side quest has been completed.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
