Quick Links

Tears of the Kingdom players may have noticed the ring garland decorations hung up in stables or in villages. These are referred to as Ring Garlands, and if players want one of their own, they can buy one. The first thing they'll want to do is start the main quest, Crisis in Hyrule Castle.

The new Fuse Ability in Tears of the Kingdom allow players to combine all sorts of materials or other weapons to melee weapons, sheilds, or even arrows. While Fusion does increase the durability of weapons, some objects aren't worth attaching. Fortunately or unfortunately, Ring Garland will need to be Fused if players want to get any use out of it.

What is Ring Garland?

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom kakariko village ring garland

Ring Garland are accessories created by Koko in Kakariko Village (coordinates: 1822, -1002, 0112). They were modeled after the giant, ring-shaped ruins that landed in Kakariko Village since The Upheaval. Most stores and houses are decorated with Ring Garland and even some of the villagers are sporting flower crowns. While Link can't wear a flower crown, he can buy Ring Garland from Koko for 5 Rupees.

Players will instantly realize that Ring Garland won't go into the Materials Inventory, but they can pick it up (with or without Ultrahand) and even Fuse it. Since carrying this around would prove a hindrance during Link's travels, players will want to Fuse the Garland to a shield. Since Ring Garland only offers 1 point of durability, it's probably best to Fuse it to a shield with low durability (ex: 7).

To Fuse the garland and shield, do the following:

  1. Equip a shield from the inventory menu or by pressing left on directional pad and scrolling with R-stick. Remember that shields acn't already be Fused in order for this to work.
  2. Hold down L-button and select the blue Fuse icon (sword) with R-stick.
  3. Target the Ring Garland so that it's highlighted, then press ZL-button to fuse it to Link's shield.

The Ring Garland looks pretty and all, but it's not very sturdy. Luckily, those that paid the 5 Rupee fee for it can show it off to specific NPCs around Hyrule. Ironically, the Ring Garland is necessary for a side event all the way out in Gerudo Town.

Ring Garland: Voe and You Walkthrough

Once players arrive in Gerudo Town (coordinates: -3875, -2864, 0043), they'll notice it's completely abandoned and destroyed by the desert storm. Head towards the entrance to the waterway by the north gate (coordinates: -3792, 2903, 0043), and follow the letters in the bottles towards an opening in the ceiling. Use Ascend to enter the Gerudo Shelter.

Players that have already made themselves known to the Gerudo can walk right in from the front entrance. The Gerudo Shelter is straight ahead from the north gate in a hollow in the staircase leading to the palace.

From the Gerudo Shelter, make way for the Voe and You classroom, which is located at -3863, -2989, 0032. During the evening, the Voe and You teacher, Ashai (pink hair), will give a lecture. Players can wait until evening by a fire if they want to hurry up and pass the time.

Speak to Ashai and volunteer to observe/participate in the lesson. Players will then have to assist three Gerudo students (Nali, Pritana, and Deltan). The Ring Garland is actually a requirement for the last student, Deltan, but players need to help all three of them before they can show the Ring Garland.

Nali

Nali's nervous around voe such as Link, so she won't talk to him if she can see his face. If this happens, the lesson will end and Link will need to equip a head accessory that covers his eyes. Some examples include any of the Divine Beast Helmets or Cece's Hat. If this is successful, then Nali will be able to speak to Link, and players can advance to the next student.

Pritana

Speak to Ashai again to help Pritana. Unlike Nali, Pritana will need The Noble Canteen's special drink: Noble Pursuit. The Noble Canteen is to the right from the north gate in Gerudo Town.

If players haven't done so already, they'll need to clear the Lightning Temple. After this, players can speak to the bartender to get a Noble Pursuit on the house. If players have already gotten their first Noble Pursuit, then the cost for it will be 20 Rupees.

Return to Ashai, start the lesson again, and choose to give Pritana the drink when prompted.

Deltan

Make sure the shield with the Ring Garland is equipped, then speak to Ashai. Deltan's lost all hope and doesn't think she'll meet a voe, so the only way to cheer her up is to show her the Ring Garland. After Deltan's been assisted, Link won't need to sit in on evening classes anymore.

Is It Worth Buying Ring Garland?

legend of zelda tears of the kingdom fuse ability

The reward for buying and showing off the Ring Garland is nothing. This applies for the Voe and You class, too. However, the Ring Garland can be used to decorate Zelda's house in Hateno Village. Since it's only sold for 5 Rupees, it's not that much of a waste, but it's not something that players will want to get immediately either thanks to the nonexistent payoff.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
