There are more Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom than in Breath of the Wild, and a lot of them are Shrines that require players to complete a challenge outside before being granted access within. Most of these Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom are Rauru's Blessing Shrines, which means players can just walk in and grab the Chest and Light of Blessing, but only once access is earned.
One of the most common puzzles players must complete to unlock Shrines across Hyrule are Green Crystal puzzles. These Green Crystals can be found throughout Hyrule, and when activated, they point toward a location. If Link brings it there, he unlocks a Shrine that wasn't visible before. To solve the Gerudo Canyon Crystal, players need to construct a vehicle capable of scaling small waterfalls.
Gerudo Canyon Crystal Location
The Gerudo Canyon Green Crystal can be found right by the side of the road as it snakes north from the south end of Digdogg Bridge. Digdogg Bridge is the last thing most Hylians see before entering the Gerudo Desert in Hyrule's arid southwest, and as such, Link must answer four questions from a guard to determine if he can survive the harsh conditions.
Once he's passed the test, follow the road, and look on the western side of the road as it turns north for this Green Crystal. Players should be able to find it at the coordinates (-1895, -2345, -0001), just next to one of the missing travelers who must be rescued for another quest that starts at Digdogg Bridge. The Green Crystal points northward, away from the road into a canyon with rushing water.
Unlock Rakakudaj Shrine Walkthrough
Using materials like Fans and platforms nearby, and one's own Zonai Devices acquired from Zonai dispensers, fashion a vehicle that is capable of both crawling over rocky terrain and scaling small cliffs. The waterfalls Link must go up aren't big, they are a series of small ones that Zonai Big Wheels can easily get up and over with a little encouragement from a Fan.
There is a Hudson Construction area with wooden planks on the road, which can be helpful in making the base of a car. Attach some wheels and a Fan to one of these bases, and head northward.
Whatever vehicle players decide to make, remember to attach the Green Crystal to the front and a Steering Stick to the rear. A Stabilizer attached to a platform can prevent the need for using four wheels, as the vehicle won't tip forward or backward with only two wheels and a Stabilizer.
Once the vehicle has reached the water, things get more interesting. Continue to follow the laser and, with a bit of careful maneuvering, drive up the sloping rocks as they continue toward the Shrine. If Link has trouble getting up one of the short cliffs in his vehicle, hop out, swap to Ultrahand, then simply lift it above the obstacle and keep moving.
After several small waterfalls that gradually get a bit taller, players should reach the location the Green Crystal has been pointing to – the entrance to Rakakudaj Shrine. Detach the Gerudo Canyon Green Crystal from the vehicle, and pull it over to the laser's endpoint. Once it's in the right spot, a cutscene will play, and Link will be granted entrance to Rakakudaj Shrine.
What's In the Rakakudaj Shrine Chest?
Being a Rauru's Blessing shrine, players are rewarded for being able to find this place at all, and there's no additional challenge or puzzle to solve. The Green Crystal was this Shrine's puzzle, it's just found out in Hyrule rather than within.
The Rakakudaj Chest contains a Mighty Zonaite Longsword, which increases its attack dramatically when Fused with Zonai Devices (or Zonai-type materials, like Flux Construct parts). After picking this up, head to the Rauru and Sonia statue to receive a Light of Blessing.
